Zone 3
Zone 3 is an after schools club for 7 to 11 year olds which began in March 1994. It has seen more than 1200 different children attending over the years. Back then there were very few activities for children in the area and so the club attracted around 50 children each week. It was given the name Zone Three because of being in the HU3 postcode area.
In 2009, after a period of prayer and reflection, Zone 3 underwent some changes. We now run the club twice a term with a focus on one type of activity each week e.g. baking or craft. The club averages 20 children each week.
The aim of Zone 3 is to give the children something fun and exciting to do after-school and also to give parents a bit of a break. The children are given refreshments and there is also some time given over to discussing and exploring Christian values such as caring for the people around us, and thinking of others in other parts of the world and caring for the environment. The club creates opportunities for children to try new things and therefore learn new skills and to achieve as they complete challenging tasks and games. The club is also a safe place, where children can make new friends and spend time with their existing friends.
As a club we have outings and parties each term giving the children something exciting to look forward to. Zone 3 has strong links with the Breakfast club, there is a cross over of children and both operate out of Boulevard Baptist Church.
