Prayer Requests
Hull YFC Prayer Letter - October 2011
"Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord. "
Ephesians 2: 20-21
Hull Youth for Christ works in the Boulevard area with links across Hull. Please support our work through prayer to see changes in the lives of young people and their families who face many challenging circumstances.
The City
- Please continue to pray for Lars (the Baptist Missioner to Hull) and the potential partnership with the Baptist Church here on the Boulevard, especially with the appointment of a new moderator to oversee the conversations.
- We have been really blessed by the appointment of Rev'd Tony Cotson as the Vicar to St Matthews and St Johns (Newington St Andrews) and his enthusiasm to join us with clubs and camps. Please pray for him and for all the members of the PCC of the two Churches as they face some difficult decisions over the next few months.
- Join us in thanking God that it seems the dream of a house of mission on the Boulevard may come into being before Christmas. Please pray as the finer details of what this may mean theoretically and practically are ironed out and for God to be drawing the right people together.
The Work
- We ask you to join us in thanking God for the great team of trustees who help guide us in what we do, and for the provision of Emma and Charlotte who joined them this August. Please pray for God's guidance and wisdom for them in every part of their lives. It seems that being a trustee must come with a lot of blessing as both Andy (and Lucy) and Cathy (and John) have been blessed with happy, healthy babies this last month, please pray for both couples and for Toby and Anna as they grow.
- Summer is over and we have had a fantastic time with trips and camps. Please join us in praising God for his provision, financially and otherwise which has enabled all this to go ahead. Please especially pray for a number of children who made commitments at camps this summer and others who have taken further steps along their journeys. We ask that God would show us how best to encourage and disciple these young people.
- We have had quite a few goodbyes to some of our older young people as they head off to jobs and further education. Please pray for James as he moves to Leeds and looks for work there and for Lee as he moves to Birmingham where he has been accepted for a degree in Christian Youth Ministry. We pray that both boys would settle well into their new homes and Churches and that they would know God's guidance and presence with them.
- This term we have received some funding that has enabled us to hire the National YFC 'Cage'. A team of guys from YFC will arrive on 2nd October for a week with their football cage to work with us in our clubs and the local school. Please pray that this will have a real impact on the young people, and the teachers in the school, that it will mark a turning point in many people's journeys with God.
- The local primary school which the team have worked in and supported for some years now has been chosen to run the Open Futures project this year. This is an amazing opportunity for the school and for the team to get involved in helping to run some of it. Please pray as the training begins, for relationships with the school, the teachers and the children to blossom and flourish.
- Please continue to pray for our finances as we have been blessed by several grants over the summer (mainly towards camps) and await to hear more from other funders
