Family Fun

The end of the summer term and beginning of a massive seven week holiday provided us with the perfect excuse for another Breakfast Club family trip. This time we headed off to spend a day enjoying fun and games at Cleethorpes beach, and it was a fantastic occasion. Even the intermittent rain showers didn’t dampen our spirits as we enjoyed building sandcastles, playing cricket, hunting for crabs and riding on donkeys.

What was really important about this day was the real sense of community among our happy little group. Many of the families chose to spend the day with the team playing, chatting and eating together. I remember one particular Mum who had considered not coming on the trip, as her husband wasn’t able to make it and the thought of taking her four children on her own was a little overwhelming. Once we arrived at the beach it was so quickly clear that this Mum wasn’t on her own, we were all there as one big family. By the end of the day she had even surprised herself by how much fun she had had. It is this element of the trips that make them really special and so worthwhile, and why we hope that there will be many more to come.

(We are delighted to have secured enough funds to be able to extend Emma’s post for another year. Ed.)
