Hull Youth For Christ

Exec

        Andy Dorton (Chairman)
Andy is the Church of England's 'Social Responsibility Officer' for Hull and the East Riding. He previously worked as a social worker and homeless hostel manager and has a degree in economics, politics and sociology and a CQSW. Andy is married with two children and lives in North Bransholme. Andy became involved with Hull YFC in the late 80's. He is interested in Hull's spirituality, in how Christians can communicate 'good news' across a huge historic and cultural divide, in 'community development' and in housing and regeneration.

Joy Donaldson
Joy has been on the Hull YFC exec for the past 8 years. She also volunteers once a week at the Breakfast Club and really enjoys getting to know the children and families, but isn't so keen on making the toast! Joy works part-time as a community physiotherapist with children who have physical special needs. Joy and her husband Mike have three children who have also enjoyed being involved with Hull YFC in various activities including Summer Camps, Pilgrimages, Greenbelt and work experience on the Boulevard.

Mike Donaldson
Mike has been involved with Hull YFC for about 8 years as a member of the Exec Committee. Before coming to Hull he and his family lived in Nepal for three years. Mike first met Chris and Anna at a HYFC curry evening. Mike and his wife Joy had previously had links with Norwich YFC. Mike is an anaesthetist working at Castle Hill Hospital and Hull Royal Infirmary, and is also an armchair Man U supporter. Mike and Joy are members of St John's Church, Newland.

Andy Paxton
Andy joined the Exec in the early days of the 'Fat and Famine' project in 1995. Andy has been a youthworker and manager himself in various parts of the city for many years. Andy likes extreme sports and adventure travelling and does his best to combine his passions with his work.

Irene
Irene is married to Ian and has three grown up children and four grandchildren. She worked as a teacher for special needs children until 2004 since when she has trained to become a Lay Reader in the Anglican Church. Irene spends most days involved in parish life, from Toddler Praise to Home Communion for the elderly and housebound. She was introduced to HYFC through a friend about 14 years ago and has been on the exec for 10 years. Irene loves all that HYFC stands for and is encouraged so much by the workers for the group.

Jan Denison
Jan first met Chris and Anna while working for a Christian organisation in Hull. She was, and still is, impressed not only by what HYFC aims to do but also by the way in which they do it; serving the community by living as part of it. Jan now works at Pocklington Montessori School and recently moved to Cranswick. Jan is married to Steve and has three adult children who are in the process of leaving home, and two cats that are not.

Cathy Beynon
Cathy is married to John and has four children aged 2 - 16 years. She works hard as a full time mum at home but manages to be fully involved in her local Church with youth groups and children's work. She enjoys having guests for meals, speaking French and throwing parties for children! She linked up with the HYFC team when she was involved in the Powerpoint Family Project on Longhill. She thinks that it is a real privilege to serve HYFC, as she is always challenged by their faith and solid commitment to Hull's young people.
